Conservative describes someone who feels protective of their country's traditions, identity, resources, and long-standing values. People high in this trait may be cautious about outside influence and may believe that a society should preserve what makes it distinct before adapting to pressure from elsewhere. They often care about continuity, loyalty, and cultural stability.

At its best, this trait can show up as patriotism, respect for tradition, concern for social cohesion, and a desire to protect what a community has inherited. At its extreme, it can become suspicion of outsiders, resistance to needed change, or defining belonging too narrowly.

A recognizable fictional example is Tevye from Fiddler on the Roof. He represents someone who is deeply attached to tradition, community identity, and inherited values, while also being forced to confront how difficult it can be when the world changes faster than he wants it to.
